Activity Check

Neon Requiem uses a modified "check-in" activity check. There are no comment counts for activity check. Instead, your AC is in the form of a report written by your character and submitted to their caseworker at the Bureau of Soul Affairs. (If your character would absolutely refuse to do this, AC can be written by their caseworker instead!) This report is a brief summary of or thoughts on your character’s activities of the month, to be added to their file for consideration in Soul Judgment.

This can be as long or short as you like, in any format you please. Your character can attempt to mislead or lie. However, if they do lie, the truth of their activities will appear as a magical addendum at the bottom of the page (because we really do want to know what they’re up to!) Don't worry: there will be no consequences for what your character confesses in AC.

AC is due by midnight EST on the last day of each month. Failure to post will result in your character being swept from the game.

If circumstances require that you take a hiatus, you are excused from AC for the requested calendar month. You may only take one hiatus per three month period. (EX: if you hiatus in January, you must complete AC for February and March.)

If you are in need of a longer hiatus or you have special circumstances of any kind, please let the mods know and we'll be happy to work something out with you.

For new players: Leave a blank comment with your handle in the subject line.

For new characters: Reply beneath your handle with your character's name and canon in the subject line. All of your monthly AC will replied to this comment (see example below.)

For all characters: Each month, reply to your character's comment, write the month in the subject line, and write your AC in the comment. You can do this in any format you like, but here's a nice standard form to make things simple.

Stephanie,

This month I turned blue and learned how to fly. Hope that helps.

Det. S. Castellanos' Soul Report

An alarmingly quiet month for Detective Castellanos, though less so for his partner, but as he is not my responsibility I won't rehash it. Disappointingly I have no indication he's learned to fly, however, though he remains blue in that he somehow maintains employment with the RPD.

He's begun yet another independent investigation, this time into this month's kidnappings. Will continue surveillance as necessary.

Stephanie N.

PS. Whoever has my 9x13 glass dish from the New Year's potluck, my name is etched into the base so you should have no trouble identifying it. I hope to see it on my desk tomorrow.

Unfortunately some bad things happened! I got KIDNAPPED! CAN YOU EVEN? (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ I'd like to know how they even managed to drag me away! They must have been so so strong!

But then some good things happened! I got UNKIDNAPPED! And then I got to spend the blizzard having a fun cozy sleepover with SO MANY OF MY NEW FRIENDS all at the same time!! (*/ω\*)

I hope every month is this exciting from here on out!!

MONTHLY SOUL REPORT

Irene,

Soooo yeah I've been keeping busy with BEASTFORCE doing monster bounties and patrols. Please note that if I get sent for 'volunteer service' like I did a while back - at least give me something to do that I'm qualified for! I like animals and all, but I was so out of my league at the zoo. I attached some notes to this email, highlighting some of my main skills and expertise for future reference.

That shindig at the hotel during the Solstice was pretty wild. It was a lot of fun until the death vines showed up, trying to suck the life...unlife(?) outta folks. In the end I was glad to be there to help get people out of danger. It's what I do ya know?

I finally figured out the winter clothing thing. I've been enjoying the winter market and I've met some new friends around the city. I miss Neomuna something fierce, but at least here the city is vibrant and full of people to talk to. There's always stuff to do. Monsters to fight, people to help, and arcades and clubs to have fun in at the end of the day.

With all that being said, I'm still not too keen on being kept away from home too long. I'll help out while I'm here, but my duties do lie elsewhere.

CASE REPORT: #AL-401692
CASE SUBJECT: Soul-Q0704

Unsurprisingly Miss Sov has failed to respond to all correspondence requests over the past month.

An effort seemed to be made to prevent the outgoing office number from connecting to her number. This was fixed (although our IT Department assures me this was merely a hiccup in the network and the average Soul would be unable to tamper with it in such a manner), however it should be a concern that the Soul is not simply avoiding contact but attempting to prevent it.

As the prior months' requests for additional monitoring and surveillance were denied, there are limited findings to report.

Soul was recorded on Elysium Street multiple nights across the month, reports indicate Soul may have been recruited for her fortune by a local business. I find it difficult to believe a troublemaker like her Alternatively, this may be an indication Soul has found something to spend her time on rather than criticizing our fair city and government. Will follow up on this next month.

Uncertain where Soul was located during the blizzard as many cameras were iced over or froze up due to the unexpected conditions. Rumors indicate Soul was likely not at home.

If Soul continues to be evasive, I recommend reassigning her to a field caseworker who specializes in difficult Souls. Otherwise I will require overtime compensation to attempt to monitor her without negatively impacting my current caseload.

MONTHLY SOUL REPORT

(transcribed using voice-to-text function)

I understand that there are certain systems in place here and you all have a certain way of doing things, however I hope you understand that this particular system can come off as rather insulting and even patronizing. Surely there must be a better way of addressing the need to maintain contact without making adults feel like problem children being monitored for bad behavior.

It also does not lead to this feeling like an "afterlife" if it supposedly is one. This is most assuredly not the afterlife of my homeworld. [Muttering too quiet to pick up on and transcribe.] I would be curious if it actually lines up with any of the apparent varied worlds countless others are from.

Regardless of what this place is or isn't, I have grave concerns regarding the conditions here. Public safety seems to be an ongoing issue judging by how accustomed people are to the creatures that come out to roam the streets at night. It has been disquieting that I encountered these creatures on multiple nights in different parts of the city.

If possible, I would like some information on what is being done to contain the creatures. I have experience with a situation of a perhaps similar nature and would gladly offer suggestions if they should be applicable.

The creatures are not my only concern. Is crime rampant in certain areas or... [Unable to transcribe] ...? I would have expected a greater response by the local law enforcement to a rash of abductions across the city. And not just because I found myself a victim.

If I should have anything worthy to report I shall contact you again. However I find this all to be quite unnecessary.

MONTHLY SOUL REPORT

Since his arrival in December, Dr. Serra appears to have settled in well within the city. He has taken a position as a professor of science at Atropos University and has been volunteering with the AURT laboratory division as well.

Unlike many of my other clients, Dr. Serra seems pleased to be here and has chosen to make the most of his time in Limbo, and was also unusually enthusiastic with regards to filling out my monthly report for me.

I did not necessarily need a list of all the people he has bedded and fooled around with since arriving, nor did I need the winkyface replies when I informed him of this fact. I have the sinking suspicion that these were meant in sarcasm.

TMI aside, Dr. Serra is doing well. I only hope that when his time comes, Lady Niesha will find him as charming as he seems to think he is.

Attached are my notes from our meeting this morning, for your reference. Maybe some food for thought.

- First meeting in 3 months.
- Mr. Rosfield is pissed off about a lot of things and considers my work "useless" but at least he's trying to be polite about it to my face. 🥲
- Still asking about Joshua, reminded him I have no information on this.
- Moved into house with Jill Warrick, hygiene has improved somewhat as a result.
- Talked about Star Trek for ten minutes.
- Something about being made to fuck a snake woman, declined to open an investigation, said "it won't go anywhere anyway." Um ok?? I think that says a lot but I'm not going to get into it since he didn't seem mad about it.
- Basically he's making friends but needs to work on the savior complex if he's ever going to get close to people.

By the way, it was super last minute of you to put this meeting off until now. I know you've been vErY bUsy with things these past few months, but the only schedule you're keeping here is the one you choose. You don't have to choose to be too busy to talk to the person assigned to help get you out of here, you know. But that's okay, we all make mistakes and we can learn and grow from them.

See you in February. Don't try to bail on me this time. ✨✨✨

Master Bramer,

Though I question the necessity of these reports if you are already aware of my activities, herein lies a summary of this moon's events.

The 'speed-dating' event could have been vastly improved with full transparency rather than using deception to entice participants. I was not the only one to find themselves lured in under false pretenses. That said, I have been forced to endure far worse social gatherings and I did make a number of new acquaintances. Perhaps an offer of compensation to lure in reluctant souls would work for future attempts and leave a more favorable impression of city officials.

Though I am certain of the answer already I must ask: will aught be done regarding the accident that resulted in Requiem's water supply being contaminated? If it truly was an accident...

You already know why I am asking and I will not be giving you further details.

Regards,
Dion Lesage

MONTHLY SOUL REPORT RE: J. Oda

Hey Boss,

I was troubled that I didn't receive my typical report from former Detective Oda this month. Instead of his usual detailed list it was a far more perfunctory summary. Furthermore, it appeared to be written specifically to avoid his usual minor grammatical issues and thus I was unable to issue any corrections. I believe he is still reeling from the loss of his job last month and as such is not particularly in the mood for his usual level of diligence.

Terribly sorry for the inconsistency on my end. You know how seriously I take this job. Will ensure that I have something to report next month!

Things are better than they have been. I suppose, if anything, being here is teaching me more about myself when I thought I knew all there was to know. So much of my life is influenced by the past, but here, I am all but free of it. I do as I please. I spend time with whatever friend I wish, and I live the life of royalty.

I sometimes forget that I am meant to be elsewhere. The guilt burns. This city is not perfect, what with its influences and "accidents" that seem to occur on a monthly basis, but it is yet to be as horrific as home.

Sometimes I wonder if it would be better for the friends I miss to come here rather than me return to them.

MONTHLY SOUL REPORT

Subject is enjoying his work at the Summerland Botanic Gardens and has formed something of a friendship with the giant wolf creature that prowls the premises. Apparently, the creature has helped him learn how to properly identify weeds and other garden nuisances despite being incapable of speech. Even after all this time I still find myself fascinated by the bonds that can develop in this place.

Speaking of bonds, subject reports being deceived into attending a speed dating service; he was lured there under the false pretenses of a job interview. How curious. He didn't appear to be upset, however, and I've discovered that asking the right questions is the key to coaxing more than a handful of words out of him on any given subject. I was able to get him to speak at some length about his new acquaintances, one of whom has a pet wolf that he seems especially pleased about the prospect of meeting. Between that and the creature at the gardens, I'm beginning to wonder if he has an affinity for them. He also expressed an interest in learning more about dragons, of all things.

He mentioned researching various scientific projects at the university, so I encouraged him to consider enrollment and possibly joining the research team there. Furthering knowledge is a very worthwhile pursuit.

The treatment he receives here — specifically the common courtesy he's described — continues to be a source of astonishment for him. Viewing Limbo through the lens of his experience, one would think this is a paradise. That alone tells me so much more about his former life and where he's from than any of the notes in his file.

MONTHLY SOUL REPORT RE: Scientia, Ignis

I didn't receive any correspondence from Mr. Scientia this month, but he's not the only of my charges to not report in. It seems this month's excitement really took a lot out of some of the residents! Poor things.

Rumors suggest he might have had a tussle with one of the winged creatures while out hunting. While I hope he's resting up, I also hope the incident may encourage him to focus energy on something other than hunting here. It's admirable, of course, but given his condition he should leave it to the professionals.

Speaking of, have Medical come back with confirmation on his status yet? Preliminary reports were that his soul isn't one of the mishaps so it's curious that hasn't resolved itself yet if that's the case.

Do you think [REDACTED] will ever release those BLIND-B-GONE drops they were working on a few centuries back? Maybe a little care package would cheer him up. I heard he was a very good sport at the dating event that was organized before half the city lost its minds, that almost merits a reward with how stubborn some of our other cases can be.

The soul under my charge has been oddly silent this past month. Unusually so. The incessant inquiries and messages have ceased for the time being. Not sure if I should be concerned or relieved. I will choose the latter for now.

According to contacts within BEASTFORCE, Nimbus is still an active member and continues to do regular city-wide patrols. They apparently pulled extra hours assisting with the aftermath of the 'incident' at the Styx Inc. chemical plant.

I will continue to monitor and try to regain contact with my charge.
